Chuck Jamison:
I am 60 years old.
I have been a member of Clan Gunn and the Sacramento Caledonian Society since 1990. I was the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of
the 91st Division Pipe Band from 1994 to 2000 and then transferred to the 59th Army Band, California
National Guard in Sacramento. I was a platoon sergeant for the band as well as
their bagpiper until July of 2005. I was a member of the City of Sacramento Pipe
Band from 1992 to 2003. I’m now a member of the Sacramento Saint Andrews
Society.
I have also been active in the Western United States
Pipe Band Association. I served on the Executive Council as the Northern Branch
President and have organized four workshops in the Sacramento Area for pipers and drummers.
I have been teaching bagpipes for ten years and
currently have 25 students at various skill levels and of various ages from 13 to 70 years old.
I’m married and have two boys who are married
and so far have two grandchildren. I retired at the end of 2001 from SMUD as
a computer program analyst and now participate regularly with the California National Guard Veterans Honors Program rendering
military honors at veterans’ funerals.
I’m also playing Irish drum and other percussion
with a Celtic music group, Griffin.
Two tours to Vietnam as a Search and Rescue Pilot
in the 60s. Search and Rescue Officer for NAS Agana, Guam early 70s. Oregon National
Guard in the late 70s. Served as the Battalion Photographer while learning the ins and outs of being a combat engineer. California National Guard in the 80s. AVLB Bridge Tanks and later Battalion Military
Intelligence section sergeant. Joined the 91st Division Band in the 90s and learned
to play the pipes.
I have lived in California most of my life. I graduated from Roseville High School and from Sierra College before I went into the Navy.
